Senior Client Manager | Bexhill, East Sussex | £55,000 to £75,000 | Hybrid

A genuine right-hand role to a Managing Partner, with a clear route to Associate Partner and Partner.

My client is a growing accountancy and advisory firm with a well-established office in Bexhill. The office has a strong local reputation built over many years and looks after owner-managed businesses, entrepreneurs and private clients across East Sussex, Kent and the wider south-east. It’s a close-knit team, backed by a much larger firm offering tax, corporate finance, wealth and outsourced finance services.

They’re now looking for a Senior Client Manager to work directly alongside the Managing Partner. You’ll be the person she relies on day to day, for client work and for the team.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll take day-to-day responsibility for a portfolio of around £200,000 to £250,000 in fees, with the Managing Partner keeping overall partner responsibility. You’ll be the main contact for your clients and review accounts, corporation tax and personal tax work before signing off within your authority.

Beyond that, you’ll:

  • Look after client matters when the Managing Partner is away
  • Manage workflow, deadlines, WIP, billing and debtors
  • Spot advisory opportunities such as tax planning, cash extraction and succession, and connect clients with specialist colleagues across the firm
  • Meet prospective clients and prepare proposals and fee quotes
  • Supervise, coach and develop the team, from juniors to seniors, including trainees with their studies
  • Review and allocate work for the firm’s offshore team, helping them grow technically and work as one with the UK side
  • Help lead the firm’s move towards more automation and AI-assisted workflows

What they’re looking for

  • ACA, ACCA or equivalent
  • At least five years in practice, including supervising a team
  • Strong owner-managed business background across accounts, personal tax and corporation tax, with sound FRS 102 knowledge
  • Confidence to make decisions and sign work off rather than passing everything up the line
  • Comfortable with practice technology and AI tools, or keen to get to grips with them
  • Experience of working with offshore teams, or a real openness to it
  • Audit experience is helpful but not essential
  • Within a reasonable commute of Bexhill

Why it’s a good move

Progression is based on performance, not time served. If you grow your portfolio, win work, develop people and show partner-level judgement, the route to Associate Partner and Partner is there. You’ll also have far more influence than in a typical manager role, working one-to-one with the Managing Partner while the office grows.

The package

  • £55,000 to £75,000 depending on experience
  • Hybrid and flexible working
  • 25+ days’ holiday plus bank holidays
  • Gold-standard private medical insurance
  • Death in service, company sick pay and eye care
  • Enhanced family leave
  • Ongoing investment in your CPD
  • Regular social events
