ProTalent are currently working with a fantastic organisation who help young people into permanent homes across London to recruit a new Finance manager to join their team.

Overview: 

  • To ensure the legal and contractual compliance regarding accountability on behalf of the organisation.
  • To deliver the Group’s financial strategy providing advice, information to support the development and growth of the Group to the Executive Leadership. 
  • To provide day to day management of the finance function and an effective financial planning and management service to the Group.
  • To maintain an overview of the organisation's financial and corporate affairs, ensuring its financial viability and to ensure that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.
  • To ensure the provision to the charity of quality assured financial and corporate services, the latter comprising information communications technology, management information systems, health and safety, human resources, and property management.
  • And to provide leadership and direction to the staff teams within Finance and Corporate Services.o maintain an overview of the organisation's financial and corporate affairs, ensuring its financial viability and to ensure that proper financial records and procedures are maintained. The role:

  • Advise the Group on the discharge of its financial responsibilities and the achievement of its strategy through reporting to Leadership meetings, Boards and Committees or other designated structures
  • Work in partnership with Leadership Team colleagues to support the CEO to develop and deliver strategies to ensure the Group remain financially stable and a going concern
  • Formulate and implement corporate strategies and policies relating to finance
  • Lead, manage and develop strong financial and IT team(s) where performance and development are closely monitored and individual and team / department targets are delivered
  • Provide advice to the CEO and Boards of the Group
  • Develop a culture where informed decision-taking and risk management are complemented by innovation and creativity
  • Lead, inspire and demonstrate commitment to achieve continuous improvement and celebrate success at every opportunity
  • Act as a role model (in employment and service delivery) in valuing diversity, promoting equality of opportunity and developing community cohesion
  • Ensure that the Group has the capacity, skills, systems and structures in place to achieve financial stability and future growth
  • Ensure appropriate policies, procedures and strategies are developed and reviewed to support an efficient and effective financial control system
  • Streamlining accounting functions and financial systems
  • Developing plans for financial growth
  • Evaluating and managing risk
  • To keep abreast of financial and legal developments in sectors relevant to Groups activities
  • Analyzing financial data and setting and managing growth plan
  • Managing people within the team ensuring development through regular 1:1 meetings, team meetings and appraisals
  • Reviewing contracts relating to service delivery to ensure financial commitments are acceptable or need subsequent negotiation
  • Pricing new and re-tender contracts
  • Maintaining a data base for competitor financial information e.g. salaries, contract prices etc.
  • Overseeing day to day accounting functions, managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes on a daily basis
  • To act as a cheque signatory according to signing limits set by the Board and to manage the day-to-day control of expenditure against budget headings.
  • Managing invoices and Purchase Orders
  • Preparing financial reports - monthly accounts of income and expenditure; reports to the leadership team , Board and Committees
  • Monitoring internal controls
  • Evaluating and managing risk
  • Financial governance and compliance – managing audit and filing processes / statutory returns
  • Leading on the budget setting process for the Group and preparing the annual budget and cash flow forecast
  • To check documents / cheques for payment, ensuring expenditure is correct and authorised and the necessary funds are available
  • To ensure that insurance policies are adequate, relevant, and up to date
  • To manage the payroll, liaising with HR Manager.
  • To plan and manage cash flow and investment activity. To liaise with bankers and other investment advisers.

This is a busy and varied role where you will be responsible for the finance function of the organisation, as well as 4 direct reports.

A solid accountancy background and ideally, relevant qualifications are required.
