What do the team do?

The Strategic Corporate Finance team provides powerful, insight-led strategies to ambitious organisations, supporting them through every stage of their business lifecycle. The team has significant cross-sector knowledge and provides advisory services including; financial modelling and due diligence, growth through M&A, business owner exit strategies, and company valuations to name just a few.

The Strategic Corporate Finance team has experienced continuing and growing demand for its services particularly within the area of valuations and consequently this has led to the opening of an exciting opportunity to join the team.

You will work as part of the established Strategic Corporate Finance team and we expect that valuations will account for at least half of your workload but they are also keen to give you exposure across a range of corporate finance services supporting on deals typically spanning values between £1m – £30m.  As such, there is likely to be a mix of projects whereby valuations may be the first stage of larger multi-faceted engagements on which you will also be working, or you may undertake standalone valuation projects alongside other corporate finance client engagements. 

This is an interesting, varied role and would suit an individual looking to continue their career within corporate finance.

What will you be doing?

As a Strategic Corporate Finance Executive / Assistant Manager you will take ownership of the following responsibilities:

  • Preparing valuation working papers and final output letters, reports and / or presentations.
  • Assisting with the preparation of reports for litigious matters and presenting findings in an accepted manner to be used as Expert evidence.
  • Supporting the team on a wide range of small to mid-market deals through the preparation of financial due diligence reports, information memoranda and financial models.
  • Working with the team to deliver buy-side and sell-side advisory engagements including via M&A, MBO and EOT scenarios.
  • Analysis of financial statements, management information and deal documentation.
  • Reviewing legal documents such as sale and purchase agreements and completion accounts.
  • Assisting clients with completion procedures including cash and net debt analysis.
  • Preparation of market research to support the valuation of companies and to identify potential buyers under sale mandates as well as target companies for acquisitive clients.

 

Whilst having the following experience is advantageous, they value passion and potential. If you meet the minimum criteria listed below and are eager to develop yourself, we would love to hear from you:

  • ACA finalist / qualified or CFA qualification (minimum criteria).
  • Some degree of corporate finance experience including specific experience in undertaking company valuations using a range of methodologies (minimum criteria).
  • Experience in working in a client-facing role with SME / owner-managed businesses and an understanding of the factors impacting their operations.
  • Familiarity with corporate intelligence databases such as PitchBook, MarkToMarket, Experian MarketIQ desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and takes responsibility for the accuracy and high quality of work.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills including an ability to communicate complex information to a non-specialist audience.
  • Strong analytical skills including an ability to identify inaccuracies or inconsistencies in data presented.
  • 2:1 degree desirable.
