Client Manager | Eastbourne | £50,000 to £60,000

If your next move needs to be the last one before Director, this is worth a look.

It's a long-established office in Eastbourne, part of a larger national group but run day to day as a local practice. They want a Client Manager to take on an existing portfolio, and they're upfront that they want that person to grow into a Director role over the next few years.

Progression gets promised a lot at this level. I know that, and so do you. What I liked about this one is that the two roles above it already exist in the same office, so you can see who you'd be learning from and what each step actually involves.

The client base is owner-managed and family businesses across East Sussex, plus a well-developed sector niche that you can pick up if it interests you or leave alone if you'd rather stay general practice.

What you'd be doing:

  • Running your own portfolio and being the person clients ring first
  • Reviewing accounts and tax work prepared by the team
  • Planning conversations, not just compliance ones
  • Supervising and developing the seniors and semi-seniors under you
  • Spotting the advisory work sitting in your portfolio and doing something about it
  • Getting known locally, because that's how you get to Director

What's on offer:

  • £50,000 to £60,000, depending on experience and the size of portfolio you take
  • A route to Director that they'll talk you through properly at interview
  • Specialist tax, corporate finance and audit teams behind you when you need them
  • Hybrid working
  • A local office feel with group resource sitting behind it

You'll need to be ACA or ACCA qualified with solid practice experience, currently at Manager or a strong Assistant Manager ready to move up. More than anything you need to want the commercial side of this, not just the technical side.

If that sounds like the move you're after, send me your CV or give me a ring and I'll tell you more.
