A well-established and expanding accountancy practice with offices in Manchester and Bolton is seeking a motivated External Audit Senior or External Audit Manager to join their growing team. The Role:
As an External Audit Senior or External Audit Manager, you will lead audit assignments, manage client relationships, and oversee junior staff. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that audits are delivered to the highest standards while supporting the development of the team and contributing to the growth of the firm's audit function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and managing external audit assignments from planning to completion for a diverse portfolio of clients.
- Supervising and reviewing the work of junior auditors and providing mentorship to develop their skills.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, acting as the main point of contact throughout the audit process.
- Performing risk assessments, identifying key audit risks, and ensuring audit plans address these risks effectively.
- Preparing detailed audit reports and presenting findings to senior management and clients.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and audit regulations.
- Managing multiple projects and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Liaising with other departments to ensure seamless client service across the practice.
- Assisting with business development activities and contributing to the growth of the audit function.
Requirements:
- ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in external audit, ideally within a practice environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK auditing standards and IFRS/UK GAAP.
- Experience in managing audit teams and leading audit engagements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships.
- Proven ability to manage multiple audits and meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and developing junior staff.
- High level of attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in audit software and accounting packages such as Xero, Sage, or similar.
