ABOUT THE FIRM

My client is a well-established local practice that's part of a large UK and Ireland accountancy and business advisory group. It has the feel of a close-knit local office, with the training, technical support and specialist colleagues of a much bigger firm behind it. The audit team is growing, which is why they're hiring.

THE ROLE

You'll lead audit assignments from planning through to completion, running the fieldwork, keeping the file in good order and getting it ready for manager review. You'll be the day-to-day contact for your clients, so there's plenty of client time. You'll also help the juniors on each job and answer their questions, which is a big part of what makes a good senior.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Leading audits from planning to completion
  • Making sure files are complete, well organised and ready for sign-off
  • Analysing client data and giving practical recommendations
  • Building relationships with new and existing clients
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members on site
  • Preparing and reviewing accounts, and some tax, VAT and PAYE work
  • Planning your own workload to hit deadlines

WHO THIS WILL SUIT

  • ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Previous audit experience in practice
  • Some experience supervising or mentoring juniors
  • Organised, with a good eye for detail
  • Comfortable dealing with clients and building rapport
