Overview
A well-established and growing accountancy practice in the Portsmouth area is seeking a confident and capable Audit Senior to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified ACA/ACCA accountant who is looking to take the next step in their audit career.

You’ll play a key role in managing audit assignments, supervising junior staff, and working closely with clients across a diverse portfolio, including SMEs, charities, and larger corporate entities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage audit assignments from planning through to completion

  • Liaise with clients to gather information, resolve queries, and manage expectations

  • Supervise and support junior team members, reviewing their work and providing feedback

  • Prepare and review statutory financial statements in accordance with FRS 102

  • Ensure audit files are completed to a high standard and in compliance with relevant regulations

  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and support the wider accounts and audit function

  • Report to Managers and Partners on complex audit issues


Candidate Profile

  • ACA/ACCA qualified or part-qualified (QBE also considered)

  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in audit within a UK accountancy practice

  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and FRS 102

  • Confident communicator with a professional approach to client service

  • Able to manage multiple deadlines and assignments with attention to detail

  • Experience with accounting and audit software such as CaseWare, CCH, or similar (training can be provided)
