The Role

As an Accounts Senior, you’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional accounting and business support services to clients across a wide range of sectors. This is a hands-on position, offering variety and opportunities for professional growth, with a focus on client satisfaction and technical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and relevant accounting standards.
  • Preparation of management accounts, budgets, and forecasts to support client decision-making.
  • Reviewing and finalising VAT returns, including advising clients on compliance and deadlines.
  • Assisting with corporation tax computations and liaising with the tax team on compliance matters.
  • Acting as the primary contact for a portfolio of clients, building strong relationships and providing proactive advice.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff, including reviewing their work and providing training and development support.
  • Identifying and resolving accounting discrepancies and offering recommendations for process improvements.
  • Liaising with external auditors where required and assisting with audit preparation.

About You

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional with a strong technical background in accountancy and a passion for delivering outstanding client service.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified or part-qualified, with significant experience working within an accountancy practice.
  • Strong experience in preparing statutory and management accounts.
  • Good working knowledge of VAT, corporation tax, and UK GAAP.
  • Proficiency with accountancy software, such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and other cloud-based systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members.

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous experience managing a client portfolio.
  • Knowledge of audit processes and preparation.
